In the Year of Engineering Leadership, the Centre of Engineering Leadership and Management (CELM) and Young Engineers Australia (YEA) joined together to present the Engineering Leadership Conference in Brisbane on 5-7 May 2010. The conference was a resounding success, with over 600 delegates and an outstanding technical and social program. It’s Time to Recognise our Leaders within the Engineering Team
The Year of Engineering Leadership commenced as a Centre for Engineering Leadership and Management (CELM) initiative. The aim of the year is to recognise and celebrate leaders within the engineering team and demonstrate how the engineering team are ambassadors in shaping the future.

The four key messages Engineers Australia will be promoting during the Year include:

• 1. Leaders of the engineering team provide inspiring, sustainable and innovative solutions to society's challenges.
• 2. The community identifies engineering as the desired vocation for those who are or want to become leaders of the future
• 3. Engineers Australia is an organisation that fosters, supports and develops engineering leaders throughout all stages of their careers.
• 4. Leaders of the engineering team value and are proud to be part of the practice of engineering.
